Titanfall 2’s Valkyrie – Viper’s daughter – is the latest playable character to join Apex Legends

Valkyrie is the new playable character joining Apex Legends for Season 9.

Revealed in the latest “Stories from the Outlands” video named “Northstar”, Valkyrie is the daughter of Viper from Respawn’s previous game Titanfall 2.

“Stories from the Outlands” is their regular video series that explores the lore of each Legend.

The animated short sees Valkyrie visited by Apex’s Blisk and discussing her relationship with her father.

Viper was an antagonist in Titanfall 2 who died during the events of the game. This new video suggests Valkyrie is out to avenge him.

“Northstar”, from the video’s title, is a reference to the mech suit used by Viper.

Apex Legends has always been part of the Titanfall universe, but this new reveal is the strongest link yet between the two games.

The official website describes Valkyrie as: “Bold, brash, fiery and fierce, Kairi Imahara grew up in the shadow of her father’s legacy. But now she’s ready to launch her own.”

Little else is known about how she’ll play in the game, though the game has been datamined and details leaked. She’ll reportedly have a hovering jetpack, a cluster missile weapon, and an ultimate that sees her launching to the sky and skydiving.

It’s also been revealed that a new weapon will be available in the new season: the Bockek Bow. “A powerful and deadly weapon, for those with the skill to wield it,” reads the website. “Capable of inflicting tremendous damage at medium range, you’ll need to make each shot count.”

Season 9 of Apex Legends begins on 4 May. A Legacy Battle Pass and Ranked matches will also be included in the refresh.

It seems the story will focus on an infestation of Olympus, but no further details have been revealed.

The free-to-play online shooter was recently released on Nintendo’s Switch console. It’s well loved for its cast of LGBT+ characters.
