RuPaul tears into Drag Race Down Under queen’s ‘rotten’ look in tense first-look trailer
The first RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under trailer is here and if you thought Mama Ru was savage in the UK, then hold onto your knickers.
Remember when RuPaul blamed her infamous “H&M dress” outburst on having to quarantine alone for two weeks? Well, it turns out adding a 13 hour flight into the mix doesn’t exactly help matters.
A new Drag Race Down Under trailer shows the queen of drag isn’t holding back when it comes to the Australian and New Zealand queens, teasing a tense exchange between RuPaul and contestant Coco Jumbo over a dissapointing look.
“The first costume, that was rotten,” RuPaul tells the Sydney queen.
The first-look trailer starts with the Emmy Award-winning host’s signature cackle, and introduces comedian Rhys Nicholson as the third judge alongside RuPaul and Michelle Visage.
It also gives a sneak peak at the Down Under Pit Crew, teasing a green screen challenge with a hunky, sparsely dressed crew.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under will sashay onto screens on 1 May. It will be available to watch in the US and select territories on streaming service WOW Presents Plus, TVNZ on New Zealand and Stan in Australia. The full availability for other countries – including the UK – has yet to be confirmed.
Two of the new queens have already been rocked by scandal. In March, contestant Scarlet Adams apologised for performing in Blackface after drag queen Felicia Foxx shared a slew of photos of Adams wearing culturally appropriative costumes.
A short time later, another RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under contestant, Karen from Finance, issued her own “remorseful” apology for her racist tattoo and toy collection. Karen from Finance said she is “committed to an ongoing journey of accountability, activism and education” and “ensuring a safe community for anyone I am fortunate enough to have follow my journey”.
