Madonna eviscerates pro-gun ‘Karen’ with thunderous clap back: ‘You know nothing about me or my life’

Madonna

Madonna has clapped back at a pro-gun ‘Karen’ activist after the singer called for increased gun control in the US.

The undeniable queen of pop posted on Monday (12 April) about the “130 mass shootings” that have happened in the US thus far. She said the “tragedy” is “all the more tragic” because there is a solution – “it’s called gun control”.

Madonna’s post followed the death of Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old Black man who was killed by a white Minnesota police officer on Sunday (11 April). The police officer, who has since resigned, claimed she mistook her handgun for a Taser. The death of another Black man in Minnesota – following the death of George Floyd – has rocked the state and led to mass protests across the US.

So Madonna’s post on Instagram received a flurry of responses running the gamut from thanking the music icon for bringing attention to the crucial issue to pro-gun activists condemning Madonna for speaking up.

But one comment incurred the star’s fury. Instagram user “karengayler” pulled out all the tired pro-gun arguments to question Madonna’s post. The user said she thought Madonna had “people with guns to protect” the singer and her family and claimed “criminals” will always “find weapons”. She also claimed Madonna doesn’t “live in the real world”.

Madonna wasn’t hearing any of it. She said the Instagram troll knew “nothing about me or my life”.

“B***h I don’t have any security or armed guards around me,” the singer corrected. “Come see me and tell me to my face how not real my world is. I dare you.”

She continued: “The only criminals I see right now are the police who are paid to protect the people.

“But police are protected by judges and the criminal justice system which is a joke because there is no justice if you are a person of colour.”

And then Madonna left the Instagram user with the ultimate burn when she said: “Of course your name is Karen.”

Madonna’s thunderous clap back has been celebrated by people across the internet. Drag Race UK series two winner Lawrence Chaney shared a screenshot of the exchange on Twitter. She wrote: “MADONNA DRAGGING A KAREN I CANT.”

Journalist Harrison Brocklehurst said: “If you aren’t stanning Madonna then I don’t know what to tell you.”

Kerry-Anne Mendoza, author and editor of The Canary, shared her joy at the iconic moment. She wrote: “Madonna snapped Karen’s neck like a twig.”
