Horizon Zero Dawn icon Aloy heads to Fortnite as latest Gaming Legend – how to play in the Aloy Cup

Aloy Fortnite

Horizon Zero Dawn’s Aloy is joining the fight in popular battle royale Fortnite, and you can compete in the Aloy Cup to get your hands on her character pack.

The PlayStation icon is the latest Gaming Legend to join the fray of Fortnite’s current Primal Season.

She will be available to purchase from 15 April, along with various themed items: the Blaze Canister Back Bling, the Glinthawk Glider, and Aloy’s Spear Pickaxe. There’s also a Heart-rizon Emote, plus if you play the game on PlayStation 5 you’ll also unlock the Ice Hunter Aloy Style.

To access the character pack early, players on either PlayStation console can compete in the exclusive Aloy Cup on 14 April – the day before it launches in the item store. The top duos in each region will win the item pack, with extra points given to eliminations with a bow.

She joins Lara Croft as Gaming Legends available in Fortnite this season, and there’s a special mode to highlight the two characters. “Team Up! Aloy & Lara” is a new limited time mode where you’ll play as one of the characters in a duo, using only the bow as Aloy and pistols as Lara. Kill wildlife and use your crafting skills to upgrade new weapons.

The new mode is available from 16 April to 18 April.

“We’re thrilled that Epic has invited Aloy to play! As a fast, agile hunter and a proven competitor, we know she’ll make an amazing addition to the Fortnite universe,” says Angie Smets, Studio Director & Executive Producer at Horizon Zero Dawn developer Guerrilla.

“Special thanks to all the devs at Epic for making this exciting collaboration happen. We can’t wait to see Aloy glide into battle.”

The Horizon and Tomb Raider stars join God of War’s Kratos as PlayStation icons available in the game.

The addition of Aloy comes just as Horizon Zero Dawn is added to Sony’s Play At Home scheme, available for free for a limited time from 19 April.

The game’s sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, is due out sometime this year.
