Yuffie Kusaragi Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade INTERmission

Square Enix has revealed the name of the Yuffie Kisaragi expansion coming to Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade: INTERmission.

The 2020 remake of the classic RPG is coming to PlayStation 5 in June as Intergrade, alongside the new expansion INTERmission featuring fan favourite character Yuffie Kisaragi.

Brand new gameplay details have also emerged. Yuffie will undertake a secret mission to steal the Shinra Company’s most powerful materia, with the support of Avalanche HQ, and reclaim her homeland’s former glory.

That’s Wutai, the Asian-themed region in the original game. Yuffie is a member of their elite corps of ninja operatives, battling with her iconic oversized throwing star.

Her unique attacks allow her to throw the weapon at enemies from a distance and attack with long-range ninjutsu powers that can be augmented with the elements: fire, ice, lightning or wind.

She has other abilities too. “Banishment” is an attack that does more damage based on how much ATB was spent before it, which can also have its elemental affinity changed. “Windstorm” unleashes a damaging gust of wind that launches nearby enemies towards her.

New characters will also be introduced in this expansion. Alongside Sonon shown in the reveal trailer, there’s Zhijie (a Wutain who’s the main contact between the Wutai government and Avalanche), new members of Avalanche (Nayo, Billy Bob, and Polk), plus Weiss, the sadistic ruler of Shinra’s top-secret underground research centre Deepground.

As with the main game, INTERmission will expand on the story and characters of the original game, while showcasing the unique moveset of Yuffie in the real-time combat mechanics.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is released on 10 June exclusively for PlayStation 5, with the INTERmission expansion available to purchase separately

Intergrade will feature enhanced graphics and frame rate, improved loading times, and make use of the Dual Sense controller’s haptic feedback.

Owners of the game on PS4 can upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free, however this excludes PS Plus users who downloaded the game for free and owners of the PS4 game on disc and a digital-only PS5 (the disc will be required for the upgrade in this instance).
