RuPaul and Saint Dolly Parton honoured with gorgeous tribute to ‘our two queens’

RuPaul Dolly Parton mural Beauty Parade Hair Salon North Carolina

RuPaul has just joined a mural of Saint Dolly Parton on the side of a hair salon in North Carolina.

Artist Gus Cutty created the mural of the “Jolene” singer in 2018 on the wall outside Beauty Parade Hair Salon in West Asheville, North Carolina. Salon owner Terra Marshall has been teasing that the mural would be updated over the past couple of weeks, even posting a picture of the almost finished piece.

“We get at least 10 visitors a day, probably upwards of 50 or 60 during the weekends,” Marshall told news station WLOS. “So, the new addition is definitely going to bring probably even more.”

People submitted all kinds of guesses online including the possibility of a double Dolly special, Miley Cyrus, Tammy Wynette, Kenny Rogers or Loretta Lynn.

The salon revealed on Monday (5 April) that world-renowned drag icon RuPaul was added to the side of the building.

RuPaul even retweeted a picture of the mural. The Drag Race host wrote: “Gorgeous! I hope it’s real.’

One fan confirmed to “Mama Ru” that the mural is, in fact, real, tweeting a picture of the mural. They wrote: “Can’t wait to make you, this mural, and my hometown proud. Thanks from a little gay boy in Asheville.”

In January, Michelle Visage revealed that Drag Race has invited Dolly Parton to appear on the show multiple times. But she said Parton has repeatedly turned down their requests.

“Just to let everybody know we have asked Dolly Parton for 11, 12, 13 years,” Visage said. “At the end of the day it’s scheduling, and it’s a very long day for these people.”

RuPaul and Dolly Parton have been friends for years, with the Ru interviewing the country music legend in December for Marie Claire. The pair talked about their wig collections, high heels and even their fashion choices while cooking breakfast.

Parton said she “always” wears high heels while RuPaul takes “all that stuff off” when at home.

But then the “9 to 5” singer read the drag icon to utter filth. Dolly replied: “Well, I don’t. I have to always stay ready — street ready, I always say. I have to keep my makeup on and keep my hair done.

“Like, when I’m in LA – I’ve told you about it – if it’s going to earthquake, if we get an earthquake, I’m not running out in the street looking like you look now.”

Still not sure if Ru has fully healed from that burn.
