Joss Whedon allegedly threatened to harm the career of Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot on the set of Justice League.

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator is said to have clashed with Gadot after she objected to certain lines of dialogue he’d written for the 2017 superhero movie.

The allegations came to light in a Hollywood Reporter article on Tuesday (6 April), part of a broader report on issues actor Ray Fisher says he experienced and witnessed from Whedon amid tense filming.

Joss Whedon was reportedly “dismissive” of Fisher, Gadot and Jason Momoa when they questioned some of the lines in the film.

The “biggest clash”, the outlet writes, “came when Whedon pushed Gadot to record lines she didn’t like, threatened to harm Gadot’s career and disparaged Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins.”

Whedon allegedly told Gadot to to “shut up and say the lines” and threatened to harmfully alter her edit in the theatrical cut if she refused to do so.

According to an eyewitness, the director was heard “bragging that he’s had it out with Gal” after the exchange. “He told her he’s the writer and she’s going to shut up and say the lines and he can make her look incredibly stupid in this movie,” they said.

Fisher said the comments occurred after Joss Whedon took over from Zack Snyder in post-production, after Snyder had to leave the project due to personal reasons.

Last year WarnerMedia conducted an internal investigation on Justice League on-set conduct, ultimately announcing that “remedial action has been taken”.

Gadot previously spoke about her problems with Whedon back in December. “I’m happy for Ray to go out and speak his truth,” she told The LA Times.

“I wasn’t there with the guys when they shot with Joss Whedon – I had my own experience with [him], which wasn’t the best one, but I took care of it there and when it happened.

“I took it to the higher-ups and they took care of it. But I’m happy for Ray to go up and say his truth.”

Responding to the fresh claims, Gadot told the Hollywood Reporter: “I had my issues with [Joss Whedon] and Warner Bros handled it in a timely manner.”

It comes after several Buffy stars stepped forward with claims of “toxic” abuse from the director, who reportedly manipulated, intimidated and undermined actors with “mean and biting” behaviour on set.
