Britney Spears’ father Jamie Spears is reportedly demanding she pay his $2 million legal fees amid a bitter battle over her conservatorship.

A court document obtained by Entertainment Tonight show that Jamie has incurred millions of dollars worth of court costs and fees as he fights to remain in control of Spears’ personal life.

The document is a declaration in support of a petition for an order allowing and approving of Britney compensating Jamie as her conservator, as well as paying the fees incurred from attorneys and the attorneys retained by his attorneys. According to ET, these fees total nearly $2 million.

Jamie is seeking the court’s approval to have Britney compensate his time as conservator between 1 November, 2019 and 28 February, 2021.

This amounts to $16,000 per month in addition to a monthly $2,000 for office expenses, the document states.

The claim comes after Britney’s legal counsel, Samuel Ingham, moved to strip Jamie from the role of head of person.

Britney Spears‘ conservatorship is a complex legal arrangement that involves two main roles: Someone to manage the singer’s finances and estate and someone to oversee her personal wellbeing.

Prior court rulings mean Jamie remains firmly in control of her estate – shouldering the responsibility with the Bessemer Trust, an external management firm appointed co-conservator in November 2020.

But the role of head of person – which involves managing the “Toxic” hitmaker’s healthcare, medical insurance and contact with others – might soon change.

Jamie, for now, remains in the position. But Britney is seeking to have him replaced by full-time by care professional Jodi Montgomery, with Ingham planning to file a petition to do so in an upcoming 27 April hearing.

Jamie Spears has been contacted for comment.
