Ratchet & Clank’s vibrant 60FPS update drops early– but you’ll need to be quick to get it for free

Ratchet & Clank

If you’re super quick, you can still pick up PS4 adventure Ratchet & Clank for free as part of Sony’s Play At Home scheme. Plus, in a surprise move, though, the game’s PlayStation 5 (PS5) update has arrived early.

The visual update improves the frame rate to 60fps for the best looking experience yet and is available right now.

The PS5 update was intended to arrive in April, but developer Insomniac tweeted the surprise news giving fans just one day to grab the game with the update for free.

“Surprise! The update is now live. Get blasting, Rangers!” the tweet said.

The  game will return to its normal price after 31 March, so act fast!

Ratchet & Clank is the duo’s widely acclaimed PS4 adventure that reimagines the 2002 PS2 original. It sees them team up against the evil Dr. Nefarious, shooting and jumping their way through enemies using the most hilarious weaponry in gaming.

The  PS5 game was added to Sony’s Play At Home scheme along with a selection of other games, all available for free. That includes the likes of Abzu, Subnautica, Thumper and VR title Astro Bot: Rescue Mission.

The epic Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition will be available for free from 19 April, somewhat taking the place of Ratchet & Clank as the scheme’s flagship title.

This free update comes ahead of the duo’s forthcoming PS5 title Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which is due out on 11 June. So now’s the perfect time to catch up on their past adventures!

The game will feature a new female Lombax character, though we’re still yet to find out her name – despite teases from Insomniac.

Some fans have speculated the new character is actually trans, owing to the fact she has a tail when in the game’s lore only a male Lombax can grow a tail.
