Bimini Bon Boulash reveals they had a ‘master plan’ to win Drag Race UK, but says it “almost backfired” when they were almost sent home as a result.

The Norwich queen was an early fan-favourite, and they faced off against Lawrence Chaney, Tayce and Ellie Diamond in the dramatic finale to season two of Drag Race UK. Though Bimini did not win, they stole the hearts of fans across the world with their open and honest conversations about being non-binary and a die-hard supporter of trans rights.

Bimini revealed on Twitter that they had a ‘master plan’ to prove outward appearances are only skin deep while on Drag Race UK, but it “almost backfired” when they were almost sent home.

They wrote in a series of tweets: “Can you remember when I walked into Drag Race with a bimbo persona because I wanted everyone to write me off as such so I could prove outward appearance doesn’t define who you are within, but I almost went home that same episode.

Bimini Bon Boulash continued: “BASICALLY my master plan almost backfired, but I’m so grateful for that single piece of thread that held my entire outfit together.”

One fan wrote they were “absolutely suckered” by Bimini’s ‘bimbo persona’. They said: “I remember the shock of Joe going, but I’d not registered you yet.

“I remember it taking me about three episodes and then I pegged you as winner material to my friends, who were all pretty dismissive.”

Another person commented that they would like to think of this as part of an “even more elaborate plan” in which Bimini “fool them to think you would be going home and then shock them by being a really good lip syncer and then winning four challenges later in the season”.

In the weeks since the finale, Bimini shared they are going to become an author after they signed a publishing deal with Penguin. They also announced that they have signed with Next Model Management which has represented Alexa Chung, Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa.

Bimini Bon Boulash wrote in an Instagram post that they never would have ever thought signing onto the agency was possible even in their “wildest dreams”. They added: “This opportunity is a huge, crazy, mind-blowing moment for my gender-non comforting a** and to top it all off they have signed me to the management’s main booking list rather than special books… which makes me gag!”
