Ariana Grande becomes the most lip-synced to artist in Drag Race herstory

RuPaul's Drag Race

Ariana Grande has broken the record for the most lip-synced to songs in Drag Race herstory and she “can’t stop screaming”.

Pop Crave announced the historic achievement, with seven of her songs being used in Drag Race lip-sync battles. The songs were “Break Free”, “Greedy”, “Bang Bang”, “Into You”, “Problem” and “One Last Time”.

Last week’s episode saw Utica and Symone battle to “no tears left to cry”. Symone won the lip-sync and lived to slay another day, while Utica was eliminated from the competition.

In an Instagram story, Ariana gushed: “This is the greatest honour of all time. I am so happy and thankful RuPaul, no one understands what this means to me.”

Ariana recently won a Grammy for Best Pop Duo Performance for “Rain on Me” with Lady Gaga – but that pales in comparison to her latest accomplishment.

Shortly behind Ariana with six songs each featured on the show are Madonna and Britney Spears. The next Drag Race favourites with five songs apiece are Rihanna, Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston.

There is one recording artist who has had more songs featured on the show than Ariana. His name is RuPaul Charles, but you can call him mother.

Ariana Grande previously made her debut on the RuPaul’s Drag Race judging panel on season seven. This episode marked the first lip-sync to the star’s music, which saw Jaidynn Diore Fierce and Kandy Ho battling to stay. Kandy Ho was eliminated.

Since then, queens have lip-synced to Ariana tunes almost every season since. Perhaps most notably, “Bang Bang” was the finale lip-sync song in season 10, which saw Aquaria slay the stage and steal the crown.

Ariana Grande has been a long-standing supporter of the LGBT+ community, from headlining Manchester Pride to surprise rainbow flags on her tour.

She released her sixth studio album Positions last year, which is being released on vinyl next month.
