All of the free games leaving Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo at the end of March

Free games leaving Xbox and Playstation at the end of March

We’re nearing the end of the month and that means it’s your last chance to play these free games on PlayStation and Xbox – plus, Mario is leaving the Nintendo Switch.

If you were planning on picking up Super Mario 3D All-Stars on Switch, this is your last warning! The game was released for Mario’s 35th anniversary celebration, but was always a timed release – at the end of the month the game will be removed from the Switch eShop and no new physical copies will be produced.

The game is a trilogy of Mario’s best 3D platformers: Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy, and is available from Amazon. Super Mario 35, the free Mario battle royale game, will also be removed from the eShop.

The PlayStation Plus games this March are Final Fantasy VII Remake, VR shooter Farpoint and sci-fi action game Remnant From The Ashes on PS4, plus PlayStation 5 puzzle game Maquette. They’ll be available until 5 April and followed next month by Oddworld: Soulstorm, a brand new title in the classic PlayStation series.

Note that if you download Final Fantasy VII Remake as part of PlayStation Plus, it won’t be eligible for the free PlayStation 5 upgrade later this year that includes the brand new Yuffie episode.

The Xbox Games With Gold titles for March include online shooter Warface: Breakout and naval simulator Port Royale 3, both of which will leave the service at the end of the month.

The wonderfully titled twin-stick shooter Vicious Attack Llama Apocalypse is also available, but leaves slightly later on 15 April.

For Xbox Game Pass users, leaving on 31 March are Hyperdot (console and PC), Journey To The Savage Planet (console) and Machinarium (PC).

Thankfully, plenty of new games have recently been added to Game Pass, including Bethesda titles like The Elder Scrolls and queer indie title Undertale.
