Phillip Schofield buys £1 million house with wife after insisting divorce isn’t on the cards

This Morning host Phillip Schofield has purchased a £1 million house with his wife, insisting that divorce isn’t in the cards for the couple.

Schofield came out as gay in February last year, after 27 years married to his wife Stephanie Lowe. He was praised for his bravery after an emotional segment on This Morning in which he spoke to his co-host Holly Willoughby about the inner turmoil he felt.

Schofield reportedly moved out of the sprawling Oxfordshire mansion that he shared with his wife just two months after he publicly came out as gay. It was reported that he moved into a London apartment, claiming it is the “beginning of a new life for him”. The source said at the time: “It very much also seems as though their marriage could well be over.”

But it seems like those reports might have been untrue as the couple recently purchased a house in Newquay, Cornwall through Fistral Productions, a company Schofield and Lowe jointly opened in 2019.

A source told The Daily Star that the home – which reportedly cost £839,428 – is ‘symbolic’ that “divorce is a long way off” for Phillip Schofield and his wife. The source said: “This is yet another symbol of their continuing professional and personal partnership – it looks like divorce is a long way off.”

Schofield declined to comment on whether the new property is to use as his personal home or as a rental investment. He stressed that his top priority is that his wife is “OK”.

Schofield told The Daily Star that a divorce “has not been discussed”. He said: “We are picking our way through and however that works, and it’s a work in progress.

“I am a work in progress. Steph is a work in progress.”

Phillip Schofield recently opened up about the incredible reaction from his wife’s parents after coming out as gay. During an interview on Chris Evans’ How to Wow podcast, Schofield revealed a heart-warming text he received from his father-in-law, John, after he came out.

The text read: “I may be your Pa-in-law but think of me as your surrogate Pa, and long may it continue… As long as Steph’s OK, we don’t have a problem.”

Schofield praised his parents-in-law and described them as “amazing”. He added: “My whole family, my God, the reaction from all of them was extraordinary.”
