Joe Biden shares powerful video of two men sharing a passionate kiss

Joe Biden Instagram two men kissing

Joe Biden has posted a touching video on Instagram that features two men sharing a passionate kiss to send a message of positivity a year into the coronavirus pandemic.

The video begins with shots of life before the pandemic, showing people enjoying time with friends, family and loved ones.

Among the powerful images is a short clip of two men sharing a tender kiss – but the tone of the video suddenly changes as jubilant scenes are replaced with people speaking to loved ones through screens and wearing face masks.

However, as the video goes on, the heartbreaking images are replaced with pictures of people getting vaccinated against COVID-19, representing hope for the future.

In a voice over, Joe Biden says: “People return stronger in all the broken places. The country has been through so much. The light at the end of this tunnel is sunshine. It’s real. There’s not a single crisis we’ve ever faced that we’ve not been able to overcome and be stronger for having overcome it.”

Joe Biden wins praise for heartfelt gay kiss in Instagram video

Joe Biden was showered with praise from LGBT+ people for including a shot of two men kissing in the video.

“It is honestly so profoundly meaningful to see the president of the United States post a video that contains two men kissing; even if for a brief moment,” one Instagram user wrote.

“Like yeah, major strides have been made over the years, but as an out gay man, these past four years included so many major setbacks upon my own community and various others. So thank you, seriously means a lot,” they added.

Another Instagram user commented: “Seeing the two men kiss in the beginning got me EMOTIONAL.”

Countless others also noted the marked shift in tone from Donald Trump‘s presidency, in which LGBT+ people were almost entirely invisible.

“It is so nice to have a human being back in the White House,” one person commented.

Another person added: “Thanks for making politics boring again.”
