LGBT+ favourite Cate Blanchett stars in Where’d You Go, Bernadette? which is being released on streaming services this month.

Despite coming out in the US in 2019 the film never got a full release in UK cinemas, but it will now premiere digitally on Amazon Prime Video.

Fans of the actress will get the chance to stream the film for free as part of a Prime membership from today (15 March).

Blanchett’s role as Bernadette Fox sees her rock a sharp brown bob throughout the film, which officially joins the “lesbian bobcore” genre.

She received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance which became her 10th overall, following roles in the likes of Elizabeth and lesbian drama Carol.

The plot follows agoraphobic architect Bernadette who rarely leaves the Seattle home she shares with her husband Elgie and 15-year-old-daughter Bee.

Despite limited interaction with the outside world, Bernadette has a close bond with Bee and nervously agrees to a family trip to Antarctica to celebrate her daughter’s excellent school grades.

As the date of the trip nears, Bernadette behaviour becomes more erratic and misanthropic than usual, which causes concern for her loved ones.

The supporting cast of Where’d You Go, Bernadette also features some big names including Kristen Wiig, Will & Grace’s Megan Mullally, Judy Greer, Billy Crudup and Laurence Fishburne.

Meanwhile it’s directed by Richard Linklater, known for the Oscar-winning Boyhood and it is based on the bestselling 2012 novel of the same name by Maria Semple.

Where’d You Go, Bernadette will be released digitally in the UK on Amazon Prime Video. You can sign up for a free 30-day trial and then pay £7.99 per month or £79.99 per year.
