Polish MEP complains of ‘psychological warfare’ after Europe is declared an LGBT+ freedom zone

Polish MEPs were up in arms after the European Union proclaimed itself an “LGBT+ freedom zone” in response to Poland‘s heinous “LGBT-free zones”.

All 27 representatives from Poland’s homophobic ruling party PiS voted against the EU’s proclamation on Friday (12 March), which was passed by 492 votes to 141.

The move came two years after the first Polish authority signed a pledge against LGBT+ “ideology”, sparking a wave that now covers around a third of the country.

Responding to the EU, PiS MEP Jacek Saryusz-Wolski fervently denied the existence of Poland’s LGBT-free zones and claimed they were based on “lies” from left-wing activists – despite ample evidence to the contrary.

“This narrative thread is being continued no matter what,” he said in an interview for Polish Radio.

“No one is bothered about the fact that the LGBT-free zones are based on fake news. The EU is combating disinformation while permitting it at the same time.”

The MEP went on to claim this “false narrative” has been strengthened by MEPs from the Polish opposition and used by the EU as a form of “psychological warfare” against Poland.

“The message based on falsehoods has been confirmed by Poles in the European Parliament. This is partially a cynical move, but also an element of psychological warfare to dishearten their opponent.

“An undeclared war is raging within the European Parliament,” he stressed.

The resolution simply declares that LGBT+ people “everywhere in the EU should enjoy the freedom to live and publicly show their sexual orientation and gender identity without fear of intolerance, discrimination or persecution”.

Another PiS MEP, Zdzisław Krasnodębski, told Polish Radio that he also voted against the “unnecessary” resolution because it contains false information.

He was keen to add that the measure has no legal power and will not grant any additional rights to the European LGBT+ community. “This is like an ordinary parliament resolution. It is a political declaration,” he pointed out.

Meanwhile, professor and historian Mieczysław Ryba from the Catholic University of Lublin wailed that “the minds of the EU elite have been mastered by ideology”, heralding the end of civilisation itself.

“For a common-sense man, [the LGBT freedom zone] is a bunch of absurdities. An unimaginable violation of everything that is the order of nature,” he declared. “Undermining it is taking the straight path to the end of our civilisation.”

Good to know.
