The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Doom and other iconic Bethesda games now available on Xbox Game Pass

Twenty games from publisher Bethesda are now available on Xbox Game Pass.

The Bethesda game pass titles include their biggest hits in the Fallout, The Elder Scrolls and Doom franchises, including Skyrim, New Vegas and Doom Eternal.

It also covers both Dishonoured games and one-off sci-fi shooter Prey

While some of these Bethesda games were already on Game Pass, any additions come off the back of Microsoft purchasing Bethesda’s parent company ZeniMax Media in a $7.5 billion deal, which took effect earlier this week.

In a roundtable discussion between Xbox and Bethesda, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer addressed the issue of exclusivity, considering Bethesda’s previous games have been released across multiple platforms.

“So obviously I can’t sit here and say every Bethesda game is exclusive because we know that’s not true – there are contractual obligations that we’re going to see through as we always do in every one of these instances,” he said.

“And even in the future there might be things that have either contractual things or legacy on different platforms that we’ll go do, but if you’re an Xbox customer, the thing I want you to know is this is about delivering great exclusive games for you that ship on platforms where Game Pass exists.”

As a result, the PlayStation 5 timed exclusivity of games like Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo will still be honoured.

There’s no news yet, though, on whether future games in Bethesda’s most popular franchises will be Xbox exclusive, including the already announced The Elder Scrolls VI. But with such a huge sum paid for ZeniMax Media, Microsoft will surely want to reap some exclusive benefits.

When asked in the roundtable when we’ll hear more about forthcoming games, Bethesda Softworks global marketing and communications VP Erin Losi said “we’ll have something this summer.”
