There's a number of simple ways to get a better night sleep.

Getting a good night’s sleep – by using a sleep mask for example – is important for people’s day-to-day lives and mental health.

But the impact of lockdown over the last 12 months has affected many people’s sleeping patterns.

Whether it’s getting too much or not enough, struggling to drift off or interrupted sleep, many of us are constantly waking up feeling exhausted and rundown.

If you’re struggling with your sleep at the moment like so many, then we’ve put together a guide featuring some things that might help you out.

They’re easy, quick and affordable including blankets, sleep tea bags, eye masks and candles – and you can find out more below.

1. Weighted blanket

This weighted blanket named ‘The Lounger’ is from Remy Sleep. The unique weight of the blanket is created from cotton chunky weaves and was released to help people relax and sleep better throughout lockdown. Studies have shown sleeping under weight can provide a beneficial calming and relaxing effect, helping to reduce stress and anxiety as well as helping you fall asleep faster, for longer and more deeply.

This particular throw was created as a stylish home accessory with the benefits of a better sleep, rather than the typical weighted blankets which are designed and used for medical aid. To get The Lounger blanket go to Remy Sleep here and use the code ‘PinkNews15’ for 15 per cent off.

2. Essential oil diffuser

Diffusers are great addition to your home or bedroom as they create a humidity to the air that can help you relax after a long stressful day and contribute to a good night sleep. They also add a scent to your house and you can choose your preferred scented oils to add to the water. There’s loads of different scents to choose from including lavender, lemongrass, eucalyptus, peppermint and cinnamon. You can purchase packs of oils separately or buy a bundle which includes a diffuser and a set of oils.

There’s a number of designs to choose from including plain white diffusers, which typically come with a colour changing feature, or you can choose one that matches your interior décor better. Each one typically comes with a timer, sleep mode and mist feature, with prices starting between the £10-£20 mark. To shop ones available go to Amazon here.

3. Eye mask

There’s plenty of styles to choose from but this one pictured is a good choice for affordability and practicality. It’s priced at £6.99 from Amazon and is one of the website’s best sellers. The sleep eye mask is available in black or grey, comes with an adjustable strap and is soft so it won’t put pressure on your face or head. But perhaps the best feature is its ability to block out light including through the nose area. The design of it covers your nose completely and stops light from creeping through to give you a better night sleep – or a decent lie in. To get it go to Amazon here.

4. Pillow mist

But if you’re after a cheap starting point then you can get this one pictured above for £4.50. It won’t break the bank so if you don’t like it you can switch to another brand or scent.
