Whoopi Goldberg being thoroughly over Meghan McCain’s inane Meghan Markle rant is truly all of us

Whoopi Goldberg captured an entire nation’s complete and utter exhaustion with Meghan McCain in a blunt exchange on The View.

As the palace reels from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, The View discussed Britain’s response to the explosive claims.

As the panel discussed how broadcaster Piers Morgan sought to cast doubt on Meghan Markle’s account of her own mental health crisis, Meghan McCain hijacked the conversation.

She spoke. A lot. For a very long time.

McCain began by discussing the American Revolution – because why not – before praising Mount Vermon as “the home place of our Founding Fathers”.

The conservative pundit added that she won’t be defending the royal household anytime soon because she is “a red-blooded, 100 per cent American who celebrates freedom anyway I can”.

Moreover, she stressed that older and younger generations of Britons view the monarchy differently.

McCain then did the Vermont tourism bureau a big one by calling “all Americans to visit Mount Vernon and see why monarchies are stupid”.

“The American experiment is the way to go,” McCain continued (yes, really).

“And if we have two American women, Meghan Markle and Oprah Winfrey, who are single-handedly finishing what George Washington and our revolutionary counterparts did, I’m all for it.”

Well, there you have it.

The camera then cut back to Whoopi Goldberg. Her face befuddled and her brow furrowed. In other words, an eternal mood.

She stared at the camera in silence for several seconds before swallowing and unenthusiastically saying: “OK, I guess we’ll talk more about this when we come back.”

Goldberg and McCain have for years sparred on the show, with the EGOT winner, our lord and saviour, often having to reel in McCain during her more fiery outbursts.
