Dr Martens has unveiled its latest collaboration with fashion icon Hello Kitty, which will go on sale shortly.

The two iconic brands are teaming up once again for a collection and this time round it’s called ‘Hello Kitty and Friends’.

The collection will put the spotlight on the popular Japanese character and her friends including Bad Badtz-Maru, Kerokerokeroppi and My Melody.

The collection will go on sale on 4 March worldwide on the Dr Martens website, with four re-designs of the classic boot and shoe confirmed.

Featured in the ad campaign are Dr Martens’ original silhouettes embellished with multi-coloured Hello Kitty characters. The collection is available for sale as a boot or shoe and they’re each teamed up with a cute charm of Hello Kitty’s iconic pink bow with black laces.

Another design in the collection includes Dr Martens’ classic black boot – or a platformed version in a nod to Harajuku street style – with pink laces and stitching details alongside a patch featuring the cartoon friends.

It follows up last year’s Dr Martens x Hello Kitty collaboration, which saw them team up to celebrate the 60th anniversary of both brands, saying “we have more in common than you might think”. The shoe company also released a Keith Haring range recently, based on the iconic gay artist’s designs.

The Japanese character that started out as a graphic on a purse has since evolved into a worldwide phenomenon with her own makeup line, theme park and branded plane, with pop icons like Mariah Carey and Lady Gaga wearing Hello Kitty as a fashion statement.

Plus, she even appeared on and inspired a runway challenge on season seven of RuPaul’s Drag Race which saw Violet Chachki create that sickening mod-inspired look.

The prices of the Dr Martens x Hello Kitty and Friends collaboration are currently unknown but the recent launch of a Keith Haring collection, which is priced between £129-£159, should give fans an idea of what to expect.

Meanwhile fans of Dr Martens and Hello Kitty can enter a competition to win a pair from the collection ahead of the date it goes on sale.

The entire collection will then be available from 4 March worldwide via the Dr Martens website and in-store.
