Apex Legends finally brings its kaleidoscopic queer cast to Nintendo Switch this month

Apex Legends

Free-to-play shooter Apex Legends arrives on Nintendo Switch this month.

From 9 March, Nintendo Switch owners can finally experience the online multiplayer battle royale game, including all features with other versions of the game on console and PC, plus the latest seasonal content.

What’s more, the game will feature cross-platform support so players on Switch can game with friends on other versions.

Apex Legends sees teams of players dropped onto a map to gather weapons and battle it out to be the last team standing. It’s set in the same sci-fi world as Titanfall, developer Respawn’s previous game series.

To get Switch players started, they’ll be granted 30 free levels for their Season 8 Battle Pass, plus the chance to earn double XP for the first two weeks after launch. With millions of players enjoying the game since its release in 2019, that should give Switch owners an opportunity to catch up.

There’ll also be a free limited-time Legendary Pathfinder skin available exclusively for owners of the game on Switch.

A new gameplay trailer shows the award-winning battle royale in all its glory on Switch, so now you can experience the game on your TV in docked mode or in handheld mode on the go.

Apex Legends is notable for its inclusion of queer characters among its diverse cast of playable heroes. The latest season confirmed its new legend and explosives expert Walter ‘Fuse’ Fitzroy is pansexual.

Original legends Bloodhound and Gibralter are also part of the LGBT+ community, with Bloodhound confirmed as non-binary and Gibralter gay. Fans have also speculated many of the other characters are queer.

The news of Apex Legends coming to Nintendo Switch was first announced at the Nintendo Direct video event last month, alongside news of Splatoon 3 and an HD remake of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
