The Mauritanian: how to stream and release date for new Jodie Foster film

The release date for Jodie Foster’s new movie The Mauritanian has been confirmed

The film, which saw Foster win her third Golden Globe for her performance, will skip a cinema release and head straight to streaming services.

It sees the award-winning actress play lawyer Nancy Hollander and will be released on Amazon Prime Video from 1 April.

Based on a true story, it follows Mohamedou Ould Slahi – a man accused of being “the head recruiter for 9/11”.

Slahi is kept in Guantanamo Bay for years without being charged, but manages to find allies in defence lawyer Hollander and her associate Teri Duncan.

The pair attempt to seek justice for Slahi while notorious military prosecutor. Lt Colonel Stuart Couch uncovers fabricated evidence that eventually exposes “a shocking and far-reaching conspiracy.”

Jodie recently won a Golden Globe for best supporting actress in a motion picture and shared a celebratory kiss with her wife when her win was announced.

Both women served some serious lesbian energy in silk pyjama sets, complete with a matching collar for their dog Ziggy with fans tweeting “we love to see it”.

In her acceptance speech she said: “I’m a little speechless. I never expected to ever be here again.

“I love my wife, thank you Alex!”, she also gushed.

The upcoming film co-stars Tahar Rahim who also received a Golden Globe nomination for his role, Shailene Woodley and Benedict Cumberbatch who serves as producer on the film.

How to stream The Mauritanian

The film will be available to stream internationally from 1 April. Viewers can watch the film as part of an Amazon Prime Video subscription.
