Pokemon fans assemble! The long-awaited Pokemon Presents presentation took place this afternoon (26 February) and it was spectacular, with exciting announcements including Pokemon: Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

During the 20 minute, 25th anniversary showcase, we were treated to a potted history of Pokemon and everything it has delivered to the world since its creation back in 1995.

The broadcast comes just before this weekend’s big Pokemon Day celebration, held annually on the anniversary of Pokemon Red and Green‘s original Japanese release on 27 February.

Preparing for the 25th anniversary special on Sunday that will see Post Malone headline a virtual concert alongside Katy Perry for the P25 Music program, The Pokemon Company have been hard at work making sure fans get the best experience for the new era.

From Pokemon Sword and Shield battles to Pokemon Legends: Arceus and Pokemon Masters EX (where Leon and Charizard will make an appearance), here’s a recap of everything that was announced.

First came Sinnoh the remakes. Then came Sinnoh the pre-makes. Now we have Pokemon Legends: Arceus, a new challenge and a new frontier for the Pokemon world. The game honours past Pokemon games’ core gameplay while adding new action and RPG elements.

Trainers will get the chance to explore the Sinnoh region in a new way—by traveling to the past in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Set long before the events of Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl, this game will allow players to travel across Sinnoh to discover wild Pokemon and complete the region’s very first Pokedex.

And while Mount Coronet towering over the region makes it clear that you’re in Sinnoh, the Pokemon you encounter in this era may be different from the ones you remember catching in other games set in the same region. Pokemon Legends: Arceus is planned to launch on Nintendo Switch early next year.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Pokemon Shining Pearl

Available on Nintendo Switch late 2021
