How long is Red Dead Redemption 2 and how many chapters does it have?
Rockstar’s cowboy epic is, well, epic. It takes around 40-60 hours, on average, to finish the main story. However, once you add in the extras there are hundreds of hours of content for completionists.
That means not only completing Red Dead Redemption 2‘s core chapters, but also completing the weird and wonderful Stranger side missions, finding all the collectables, and finishing all the challenges.
So how many chapters are there in Red Dead Redemption 2?
There are six main chapters in RDR2, followed by an epilogue split into two parts.
Chapter One begins with the Outlaws From The West mission, which sees our gang fleeing from Blackwater into the Grizzly Mountains after a failed robbery. A snowstorm hits and as Arthur you lead a caravan of survivors to shelter.
In Chapter Two the weather breaks and we move down the mountains to Horseshoe Overlook in the Heartlands region. This big chapter contains the largest number of main missions.
Chapter Three begins with the outlaws moving south after an altercation with villainous business owner Leviticus Cornwall in the town of Valentine. They hide out at Clemens Cove near the town of Rhodes.

After the dramatic events of the third chapter, Chapter Four sees the gang move further southeast to Saint Denis. This eventually leads to a disastrous bank robbery.
Once Chapter Five starts, things seem hopeless. Escaping to Cuba, a storm causes a shipwreck and the group are washed ashore on the island of Guarma.
Chapter Six is the final chapter of the game, and it sees what’s left of the gang reunited at Lakay before one final, dramatic train heist.
An epilogue follows this, which is split into two parts. It takes place several years after the events of the main game, tying up the fates of the surviving gang members.
