The intense trailer for period thriller Six Minutes to Midnight, starring and written by Eddie Izzard, has arrived.

Set during World War II at an Anglo-German finishing school that has Nazi ties, the film will mark Eddie Izzard’s screenwriting debut.

The film is getting a digital premiere on 26 March joining other big releases such as Nomadland, The United States vs Billie Holiday and Promising Young Woman that have skipped a cinema release.

Based on real events, the story of Six Minutes to Midnight follows Thomas Miller, played by Eddie Izzard, who is hired as a replacement teacher at a private finishing school after their predecessor goes missing.

Thomas begins to raise the suspicions of the school’s German teacher Isle Keller against the backdrop of rising tensions between England and Germany.

The official plot continues: “Caught in the crossfires, Thomas is framed for murder and goes on the run to clear his name and uncover Ilse’s true plan for the girls. Can he stop her before it’s too late?”

The cast also features some big British names including Dame Judi Dench, Jim Broadbent and James D’Arcy. You can check out the brand new Six Minutes to Midnight trailer below.

In late 2020, Eddie Izzard began using she/her pronouns publicly, beginning with an appearance on the Sky Arts series Portrait Artist of the Year.

“This is the first programme where I’ve asked if I can be ‘she’ and ‘her’,” Eddie Izzard said during the show.

Asked how that feels, she said: “Well, it feels great. People just assume, or they know me from before.”

Explaining that “this is a little transition period”, she added: “I’m gender-fluid. I just wanna be based in girl mode from now on. It feels very positive.”

Following the airing of the episode the comedian was praised as “heroic and brave”.
