Robin Torkar, a popular Swedish streamer best-known to gamers as Pixlpit or Betapixel, has proudly come out as a trans woman.

Making the announcement on Twitter on Saturday (20 February), Torkar said he will continue using he/him pronouns going forward but clarified he has received an official diagnosis of gender dysphoria.

He explained that his coming out was not a political statement, making it clear that the topic of rights and equality has always, unlike gender, been a binary fact.

“There’s right and there’s wrong,” he explained. “People being offered the same rights regardless of sex, gender, ethnicity, religion, etc, is to me a no-brainer. It should be obvious.

“If you don’t agree with that, you are simply incorrect. You’re electing to marginalise a certain group of people because you don’t like them. But you have no authority.

Robin Torkar added: “I’m saying all of this because for two thirds of my life, I’ve wished more than anything that I had a female body.

“For one third of my life I’ve actively been researching how to achieve that. I didn’t dare pursue it, because I feared rejection, I worried I didn’t deserve it because I was attracted to men and therefore didn’t ‘need’ it. It took a long time to let go of that on a personal level.”

Confirming he was “starting treatment for gender reassignment”, Torkar added: “I’m becoming… a trans woman! For now, I’m still going by the name Robin and I’m still using he/him pronouns, but I’m choosing to bring you in the loop early and, hopefully, you’ll want to join me on this journey!”

Robin Torkar promised his fans that going forward, he will “share what he’s comfortable with sharing” and keep them updated whenever possible.

The Swedish streamer is also known as the editor and close friend of gaming YouTuber JackSepticEye, who congratulated Torkar on his announcement.

“I’m so incredibly proud of you,” he said. “I am with you 100 per cent of the way and your bravery has been inspirational. So excited to see your journey.”
