The Amazon Kindle is the perfect way to keep all of your favourite books in one place, discover new titles and listen to audiobooks.

It might be a whole new world to you but it’s become a popular device since its launch that can also help readers declutter by getting rid of all those books collecting dust on shelves.

If you’re fed up of binge watching in lockdown then maybe you could start binge reading a new series of books. There are millions of titles to choose from that are readily available to download and read from the Kindle.

So for those who want to find out everything about the Kindle, we’ve put together a guide including the models available to deals and subscriptions you can get.

The classic Kindle is a six inch screen with 8GB of space and a recent new addition with a built-in front light. It also has a battery life that can last for weeks and can be used to listen to audiobooks. It comes in white or black and is a popular choice because of its cheaper price than the other models, starting at £69 from major retailers.

Kindle Paperwhite

The Paperwhite edition of the Kindle is lighter and thinner than the original. You can get it with 8GB or 32GB of storage and in plum, black, twilight blue or sage. Again this one is compatible with Audible so you can listen to your favourite audio books and podcasts. Plus it’s waterproof so it’s a popular choice for holiday reads as you can use it at the beach or pool and not worry about damage. Prices for this model start at £119 from major retailers.

Kindle Oasis

The latest version of the Kindle is Oasis which comes in gold or graphite. Similar to the others it comes with 8GB or 32GB of storage, is waterproof and can be connected to Audible. But the big change in this edition is the adjustable warm light, so readers can change the screen shade from white amber. This is ideal for anyone who reads in bed and wants an even softer screen to look at so to not strain your eyes. This model is priced from £299 at major retailers.

How much is Kindle Unlimited?

Once you’ve got your Kindle device you can purchase whatever books you like to read on it. But you can also sign up to Kindle Unlimited, which gives you access to more than one million titles, thousands of audiobooks and selected magazine subscriptions.

It costs £7.99 per month and comes with a free 30-day trial, so you can test it out and cancel it before you’re charged or keep the monthly subscription if you like it. Plus you can download the Kindle Unlimited app on any device including your smart phone to download and read books anywhere at anytime.

If you’re thinking of buying a new Kindle you can add three months of Kindle Unlimited for free. When you’re on the Kindle product page just be sure to add the ‘with three months free Kindle Unlimited’ where it says ‘offer type’ before putting the Kindle in your basket.

To sign up for a free 30-day trial and find out more go to Amazon here.

What are the Kindle daily book deals?

Kindle users can take advantage of the daily deals available. There’s typically five titles that are reduced to as little as 99p every day alongside other ‘top picks’ which are discounted featuring a variety of genres.

You can make decent savings on a number of titles with the daily deals, but the majority of them are often included for free as part of the Kindle Unlimited subscription, so it’s probably worth checking before purchasing as it might work out cheaper to sign up to that instead.
