Football stars Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris have announced the adoption of their new baby in the most heartwarming Instagram post.

US Women’s National Soccer Team (USNST) stars Krieger and Harris, who got married at the end of 2019, announced that they have adopted a daughter in a beautiful Valentine’s Day post on social media.

Krieger wrote a post on Instagram to their baby’s birth mother: “Our promise to you: We promise Sloane will be loved every single day by us, our friends, and our family.

“We promise to give her the tools to live a happy, successful life of inclusivity and support.

“We promise to share her adoption story with her from the very beginning and celebrate every milestone!”

The pair also promised to “encourage her to follow her dreams no matter how big or small”. Krieger also said the couple will “promise to be open-minded and respect your wishes to have future communication and that she will always know how much you love her”.

Krieger shared how, when the football stars started dating, “we always spoke about adoption and always wanted to give a child a loving, happy and stable home”.

Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris told Allure in 2020 that they had talked about having kids “a lot”.

They explained how they had been together for over a decade at that point, and had become the moms of two dogs. But the couple hadn’t quite figured out how to fit a baby into their hectic lifestyles.

Harris told the magazine: “The unfortunate part is someone’s going to have to give in their career, which is not fair.

“Because we both love our jobs and have waited our whole lives for these moments.

“Just taking a year off…where does that fit in? I can’t even take a weekend off.

“We’ve talked about surrogates, we’ve talked about adoption, and it’s just really tough because what — are we going to take the child everywhere?

“I mean, we’ve been home for seven days in the last three months.”
