Lux Pascal has paid a loving tribute to her brother, The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal, who “served as a guide” as she came to terms with her identity as a trans woman.

Lux, 28, had her brother’s full support as she publicly came out as trans on Tuesday (9 February) in the Chilean magazine Revista Ya.

“Mi hermana, mi corazón, nuestra Lux,” Pedro wrote on Instagram in his native Spanish, which translates to: “My sister, my heart, our Lux.”

Lux, who is currently studying acting at Julliard in New York City, previously came out as non-binary before slowly realising that “moving through the world as a woman is much more simple for me”.

She credits Pedro helping her through this time, giving her the “tools” she needed to understand her gender.

“Pedro has been an important part of this,” she told the magazine. “He’s also an artist and has served as a guide for me. He was one of the first people to gift me the tools that started shaping my identity.”

Pedro Pascal is known for quietly supporting the trans community as he proudly displays his pronouns on his social media.

She recalled coming out to him as trans in a conversation over FaceTime, where Pedro “asked me how I felt, because I remember he was a little worried”.

After Lux said she was happy, the actor quickly congratulated her. “Perfect, this is incredible!” he replied.

The news wasn’t exactly a surprise for Lux’s loved ones, she admitted. “My transition has been something that’s very natural for everyone in my family. It’s almost something that they expected to happen,” she said.

In publicly coming out as trans, Lux said she is eager to lend her voice to the chorus of support for trans rights.

“We need trans activists who are good, smart, informed and who can be strong voices against transphobia, homophobia and racism,” she said.
