Britney Spears breaks silence with rare personal statement: ‘I’m learning and being a normal person’

Britney Spears.

Britney Spears has issued a rare statement in which she told fans she loves performing – but that right now, she just wants to be a “normal person”.

Spears shared a video of herself performing her 2003 hit “Toxic” on Instagram on Tuesday (9 February), writing: “Can’t believe this performance of ‘Toxic’ is from three years ago!!!”

She continued: “I’ll always love being on stage… but I am taking the time to learn and be a normal person… I love simply enjoying the basics of every day life!!!”

The singer seemingly referenced the bombshell new documentary Framing Britney Spears, which dives into the rise and fall of the pop princess and examines how she came to find herself embroiled within a complex conservatorship, which has resulted in her father controlling much of her affairs for more than a decade.

Spears wrote: “Each person has their story and their take on other people’s stories!!! We all have so many different bright beautiful lives,” she added, along with a string of flower emojis.

“Remember, no matter what were think we know about a person’s life it is nothing compared to the actual person living behind the lens.”

Thought Britney is prolific on Instagram, she rarely addresses her personal life.

The singer’s update comes as she continues her legal fight to have her father removed from her court-order conservatorship, which she was first placed under following a mental health crisis in 2008.

The courts have repeatedly opted to keep the complex legal arrangement in place.

Britney Spears’ boyfriend has called her father a ‘total d**k’.

Britney Spears’ boyfriend, Sam Asghari, launched a scathing attack on Jamie Spears, the singer’s father, on Tuesday (9 February), branding him a “total d**k” on his Instagram Stories.

“Now it’s important for people to understand that I have zero respect for someone trying to control our relationship and constantly throwing obstacles our way,” Asghari wrote.

“In my opinion, Jamie is a total d**k.

“I won’t be going into details because I’ve always respected our privacy but at the same time, I didn’t come to this country to not be able to express my opinion and freedom.”

In December, Jamie defended his actions as those of a father protecting his daughter from “those with self-serving interests”.

He confirmed he had not spoken to Britney since August, accusing her lawyer of prompting the estrangement.

“I love my daughter and I miss her very much,” Jamie Spears said at the time.

“When a family member needs special care and protection, families need to step up, as I have done for the last 12-plus years, to safeguard, protect and continue to love Britney unconditionally. I have and will continue to provide unwavering love and fierce protection against those with self-serving interests and those who seek to harm her or my family.”
