It’s 2021 and 50 Cent just can’t stop being transphobic

50 Cent has resumed his feud with Young Buck by – you guessed it – tweeting a load of transphobic nonsense.

50 Cent kicked Young Buck out of his G Unit collective in 2008 and ever since, has devoted a concerning amount of time to taunting him.

In recent years the Power creator has resorted to base transphobia, riffing on rumours Young Buck had a relationship with a trans woman (that Buck denies).

That’s the line he took on Monday (18 January), when he tweeted a screenshot of a salacious YouTube video that promised to “expose” Young Buck, adding: “Damn this boy really different caught with another transgender contender.”

Some followers were quick to condemn the rapper for perpetuating transphobia, with one simply telling him to “grow up”.

This isn’t the first time 50 Cent has weaponised transphobic hate, nor the first time he has been reprimanded by followers for doing so.

In March 2019 he suggested – inaccurately – that being in a relationship with a trans woman would make Young Buck gay.

At the time he was widely criticised, with one follower saying: “50 Cent’s transphobia will contribute to more Black trans women suffering because the hate he spewed will be internalised and received by millions of Black men.

Another added: “Actually it’s not gay at all @50cent for a heterosexual man to date or be into us transgender women, we are WOMEN too.”

Their words fell on deaf ears, however. In July 2020 the rapper suggested he himself must be gay for finding Halle Berry attractive after she announced she would play a trans man in a film (she later quit the role and apologised).

Around the same time he gave an interview in which he said straight men were the biggest targets of cancel culture.

“Tell me this, as a heterosexual male, who’s going to send things around to get signatures based on your failures?” he told Variety.

“There’s no one. There’s no organisation.

“Certain demographics have been conditioned because they’ve been taken advantage of in the earliest stages. Once inferior, now they’re superior because we have no organisation.”
