Gay Trump supporter who bragged about storming the Capitol makes tearful, grovelling U-turn: ‘I fear for my life’

US Capitol riots

A gay Trump supporter who bragged about storming the Capitol quickly changed his tune after being hit with the consequences of his actions.

Kristopher Dreww, a 32-year-old Californian hairdresser who goes by “Adorable Deplorable” on his right-wing podcast, was full of bravado when first telling his fans about the riot.

“I just got back from storming the Capitol,” he boasted in a video posted to social media. “It was successful. For all you b***hes on Facebook going crazy talking about it was Antifa, and saying it wasn’t us, it was us. We proudly took back our Capitol.

He continued: “I’m only at the hotel to get some gear on, I’m going back, baby. They brought the National Guard out for us and s**t. We had the f**king cops running, they ran from us. Not because they are b***hes but because they’re smart. We did it. God it’s so exhilarating!”

Unfortunately for Dreww, on his return to California he didn’t exactly get the hero’s welcome he expected.

As he made the 2,700-mile drive from Washington to Huntington Beach he received death threats from both Trump supporters and detractors. He now fears he could be arrested, and believes his successful beauty salon business is doomed.

“I’m scared,” he told the Orange County Register, choking back tears. “I fear for my life.”

In stark contrast to the boastful tone of his video, Dreww claimed that he truly believed the deadly riot would be a peaceful protest, and had no idea it would turn violent.

“I do regret not doing my research and not knowing what people were in there,” he continued. “I am proud we took back our house, but I thought we took it back peacefully.”

Samantha Shero, a spokeswoman for the FBI’s field office in Washington DC, told the paper that she couldn’t comment or confirm whether Dreww is under investigation.

Dreww desperately maintains that there’s nothing to investigate, because even though he bragged about “storming the Capitol”, he never actually set foot inside.

“I never went inside the Capitol,” he said. “I am a waste of time (for authorities to investigate), but there are other people who did terrible things and should be arrested. I didn’t go to Washington for Donald Trump. I went there for everyone’s vote to count.”

Apparently it took him about an hour to wind his way through the thick crowd of protesters, so he ended up sitting under a tree on the lawn outside the Capitol, where he ate sandwiches with a teacher and a nurse.

Exhilarating!
