Britain’s ‘first gay dad’ spends £200,000 on Christmas gifts, including miniature Bentley for baby he had with daughter’s ex-boyfriend
One of Britain’s “first gay dads”, who is engaged to his daughter’s ex-boyfriend, is treating his children to £200,000 worth of presents this Christmas.
Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, 51, originally from Manchester, made headlines in 1999 with his former partner, Tony Drewitt-Barlow, when they became the first same-sex couple in Britain to be formally registered parents.
Their surrogate mother gave birth to twins, Saffron and Aspen, and the couple became known as Britain’s “first gay dads”.
After the twins, they fathered three more children: Orlando, Jasper, and Dallas.
Barrie is now engaged to his assistant Scott Hutchinson, 25, who previously dated 21-year-old Saffron.
Scott and Barrie now have baby Valentina together, and the whole family will spend the holiday together in their £6million 10-bedroom mansion in Florida, according to The Sun.
Saffron told Closer that her “daddy” Barrie, who works as an “odour guru” testing deodorants for his former partner Tony’s consumer research company, is “Christmas crazy”.
“In total, Dad and Daddy will spend about £200,000 on everyone’s gifts,” she said.

At just three months old, baby Valentina will be receiving a miniature Bentley and diamond rings, while Saffron is being gifted a deposit on a flat in Manchester.
Saffron said: “Valentina isn’t even one yet but she’ll be getting a custom made baby white Bentley. For my first Christmas I got a baby Mercedes so it’s a bit of a tradition in our family.
“Dad and Scott are also going to invest in some diamond rings and put them in a safety deposit for her when she’s older.”
Barrie is also buying his bisexual fiancé Scott a Range Rover, and will be spending around £50,000 on food and decorations.
Saffron has recently offered to donate her eggs to her dad, so that he and her ex-boyfriend can try for another baby via surrogacy.
