Taylor Swift announces yet another surprise new album and ‘sister record’ to Folklore

Taylor Swift might as well add ‘saving us all from the never-ending existential horror that is 2020’ to her résumé because she revealed Thursday afternoon (10 December) that she is dropping a “sister” album to folklore.
In other words, she’s not out of the folklore woods just yet, after the album dropped in July earlier this year. It saw her branch out to a new soothing, often soppy, indie-folk sound.
Entitled evermore, Swift took to Twitter to announce that the new record will be out midnight tonight (EST), pairing it with an atmospheric photograph of the back of her head with her hair in a french braid.
I’m elated to tell you that my 9th studio album, and folklore’s sister record, will be out tonight at midnight eastern. It’s called evermore.

She later confirmed that evermore will be packed with 15 songs – including new collaborations with Haim, The National and Bon Iver – with the deluxe physical edition including two bonus tracks “right where you left me” and “it’s time to go”.

The first music video for the album, for the song “willow”, will drop at the same time alongside it, she said, noting that she’ll be answering fan questions in a YouTube premier page chat beforehand.

“I’m elated to tell you that my ninth studio album, and folklore’s sister record, will be out tonight at midnight eastern,” she wrote. “It’s called evermore.”
“To put it plainly, we just couldn’t stop writing songs. To try and put it more poetically, it feels like we were standing on the edge of the folklorian woods and had a choice: to turn and go back or to travel further into the forest of this music.
