Rugby pro Kurt Capewell ‘tricked’ into making a gay porn film when he was ‘young, naive and broke’

Australian rugby star Kurt Capewell has spoken out about being talked into appearing in a gay porn video seven years ago.

An X-rated video of Capewell, who plays for the Penrith Panthers in Australia’s National Rugby League (NRL), recently resurfaced on social media, prompting the rugby star to address what happened.

The 27-year-old told The Daily Telegraph that in 2013, when he was “young and naive”, he agreed to be in a photoshoot for a sportswear and underwear brand.

He said that the photoshoot started clothed, but he was soon photographed nude and eventually convinced to have sex with another man on camera.

Capewell said: “The organiser used inducements and extra money for being involved in the adult film. I take full responsibility for what happened.

“My message to young people is to be really careful when being offered money for photo shoots. It’s not the person I am today.

“I’ve had to learn the hard way. I hope others don’t have to go through what I have endured.”

In a text message to his Penrith Panthers teammates, he said that he was “embarrassed and ashamed” by the video, and that he was unaware that he was having sex with another man as the act took place through a wall.

“Bit hard to put the full story into words but I was broke and doing some modelling, then I got talked into doing an [adult film],” he wrote.

“Unknown to me but it turned out they put a bloke on the other side of the wall.

“I’m terribly embarrassed and ashamed even though it happened when I was so young.”

News.com.au reported that it is “understood that reference is to a contraption that the young men being filmed stand on one side of, with a much older man concealed on the other, performing sex acts”.

Kurt Capewell is not alone in accusing Australian adult site of tricking him into gay porn.

Kurt Capewell’s porn film appeared on the website AllAustralianBoys.com, which confusingly declares it is “not a gay porn site” and that it “celebrates… the sizzling sexuality and natural unassuming beauty of straight Australian males 18-26” by filming them having sex with other men.

But another man, going by the pseudonym Callum, told news.com.au that he too had been tricked into taking part in an adult video for the website.

Callum was allegedly approached to take part in a photoshoot via Grindr, and after an initial meeting was invited to a hotel.

“There was no mention of exactly what would be happening,” he said. “It isn’t until you’re in the room that you realise what’s going on.”

He added: “We weren’t told explicitly, ‘We’re going to get you to take your clothes off and have sex with another man on camera’. But that’s what it was.”

At the time, Callum said, he was “chronically depressed” and “desperate for cash”. He said that was “anxiety-ridden”, and didn’t feel that he could leave.

He continued: “They’ll target people of that age and gender for that reason.

“They present what you’re going to be doing in an innocent, non-harmful way. They say you’re going to get money, we’re going to take photos of you. It escalates from there.”

Worryingly, AllAustralianBoys.com founder and chief photographer “Jason” writes on the site: “We are often asked – how do we constantly get these type of guys to do this stuff. It’s not easy but the results make it very worthwhile!”
