Anti-LGBT+ televangelist Pat Robertson wants God to steal election for Donald Trump. Yes, really

Anti-LGBT+ televangelist Pat Robertson

Anti-LGBT+ televangelist Pat Robertson has claimed that “the Lord himself” will intervene to ensure that Joe Biden never takes office and that Donald Trump remains as president.

With 40 days until the orange-faced menace is kicked to the kerb, Robertson has called on God himself to prevent Donald Trump from leaving office.

Speaking on his nationally-syndicated TV show The 700 Club on Monday (7 December), Robertson – who claimed ahead of the election that God had told him “without question, Trump is going to win”– parroted unfounded conspiracy theories about voter fraud.

The 90-year-old said: “We must declare that God Almighty is not going to let this great nation of ours be taken over by fraud.”

He continued: “This is too important in the history of the world, and we as his servants must declare we are not going to let this happen, we are going to declare in the name of the lord that this fraud will be exposed.

“Before these electors are chosen and vote in something that’s going to be permanent, there has to be a cessation.”

Robertson added: “It sickens you and we have got to declare it, in the name of the Lord, to say we declare in Jesus’ name, this fraud will not stand and it will be exposed and that the Lord himself will intervene before this country turns into something socialist.”

The TV host is not taking the news of Biden’s win well, vowing in a separate segment last month: “In the name of Jesus, I bind the spirit of delusion that has come across our land.

“We will not surrender our nation. We will not give up this great country. And Satan, you cannot have it. In the name of Jesus. And I began to pray, and I believe God has heard. And I’m asking everybody in this audience to pray. It isn’t over yet.”

Disney is forced to air The 700 Club because of bizarre legal dispute

Disney-ABC channel Freeform is contractually required to air The 700 Club under a legal agreement that stems from the channel’s original ownership by the Christian Broadcasting Network. A contract stipulates that the show must be aired three times a day in perpetuity.

The host has long been a thorn in the side of the media giant, due to his propensity to voice extreme anti-LGBT+ views on the show. In 2016, Vulture reported that Robertson had rejected a multi-million dollar contract buyout offer from Disney that would have seen The 700 Club taken off air.

The channel instead airs disclaimers before Robertson’s broadcasts that sometimes pastiche its content. One says: “The people at Freeform would like you to know that we did not make this next program. We haven’t even seen it.”

Another adds: “Freeform is not responsible for what is about to appear on your screen. Watch or don’t watch. We’re OK either way.”

It’s probably not a mystery why the network is hoping to see the back of Robertson, given his claims that the US will face a nuclear attack if it passes an LGBT+ non-discrimination law, and insistence that gay people are willing to destroy society to protect “their weird way of doing sex”.
