Batwoman has dropped a new teaser trailer for its second season, giving fans a first look at Javicia Leslie pulling on her iconic Batsuit.

Leslie bagged the lead role after actor Ruby Rose left The CW series after just one season, and is set to become the first-ever Black Batwoman when the second series airs in January 2021.

She will play Ryan Wilder, who begins the series living in her van and takes over the iconic bat cape from billionaire Kate Kane.

It was revealed in October that although Wilder will at first wear the same suit as Kane, she soon grows into her new role and unveils a re-designed, unique Batsuit in the third episode.

Fans were previously treated to the first photos of the Batsuit, featuring a new cowl, red gauntlets over the forearms and shorter boots, with Wilder wearing her hair natural and curly with red streaks.

But now, a new teaser trailer shows Wilder in action, putting on the suit for the first time.

It begins with Wilder in Kane’s old Batsuit, as another character says: “I met the new girl. She’s going to be a… handful.”

The clip then shows Wilder pulling on her new Batsuit, before staring into the camera and saying: “Time to be powerful.”

The second season of Batwoman premieres 17 January on The CW.

Bisexual actor Javicia Leslie helped design her new Batwoman look.

Javicia Leslie collaborated with Batwoman costume designer Maya Mani and executive producer Caroline Dries to design her new Batsuit.

She told The CW: “I love the fact that Ryan is becoming her own Batwoman – it’s her style, her swag, and her moment!

“It was an honour to be able to collaborate with Caroline and Maya. I felt it was important that viewers could tell by the silhouette that Batwoman was a Black girl.

“With the form-fitting suit and beautiful Afro, we definitely nailed it!”
