A trans teenager was brutally attacked by two men while being called a “monster” on Trans Day of Remembrance in Barcelona.

Eva Vildosola, 19, was had been living in Barcelona for two months, having moved there to find “peace”, when she was attacked by two men as she left her house on Friday (20 November).

They began swearing at her and calling her a “monster” before grabbing her, punching her in the face and kicking her.

Sharing photos of her bloodied face on Instagram, she wrote: “I am a normal 19-year-old girl. I am transgender, yes, but that does not make me less normal, it does not make me a monster, it does not make me less.

“I have the right to go out, I have the right to do whatever I want with my social media and I have all the rights that everyone should have.”

Vildosola continued: “I’ve been living in Barcelona for two months. I came here looking for peace, to enjoy myself because I need it, not to be humiliated, attacked and made to feel like a monster… I DO NOT DESERVE THIS. And from here I denounce it publicly.”

According to La Vanguardia, the incident is being investigated by the Catalan police, who are trying to identify her attackers alongside the Barcelona Hate Crimes Prosecutor’s Office.

On Instragram, the victim added: “This is what has happened to me, but unfortunately it happens to a lot of trans people and it could have ended worse.

“I do not hurt anyone, you have no right to do this, NO MORE TRANSPHOBIA PLEASE. I do not want to die tomorrow.”

The attack took place on Trans Day of Remembrance, a day to honour, mourn and celebrate the lives of the trans and non-binary people who have been killed.
