Lil Nas X is about to drop a Christmas single, in a move that threatens to finally end Mariah Carey’s decades-long tyrannical reign as the queen of Christmas.

The “Old Town Road” musician announced the upcoming track “Holiday”, set for release on November 13.

In a cinematic teaser trailer that debuted during an NFL game ad break on Sunday (November 8), Lil Nas X is seen living his cowboy life before a Santa Clause-style encounter with a passed-out Father Christmas sees him become the “new Santa”, Santa Nas X.

With his horse and cart transformed into a futuristic sleigh, the star proceeds to travel in time – with a surprise cameo from Back to the Future star Michael J Fox, who warns him: “Whatever you do Nas, don’t go to 2020.”

Lil Nas X tweeted: “MY FIRST SINGLE IN ALMOST 2 YEARS “HOLIDAY” IS OUT THIS FRIDAY!”

New music has been repeatedly teased by the queer music icon, who revealed earlier this year that he is working on tracks including “Call Me By Your Name” – presumably inspired by the film of the same name.

However, there’s still no news on his much-awaited debut album, which he said was “almost finished” back in July. The one-man banger factory is also thought to have a mixtape project in the works.

Ahead of the release of “Holiday”, Lil Nas X teased fans: “should i drop call me by your name with it too? a lil 2 pack?”

It’s safe to say fans are overjoyed with the new track, despite the long wait.

One YouTube commenter wrote: “I came from the future to say that this song is the best of the century.”

Another added: “This guy is more different than every another artist i’ve even seen, that’s why i’m a huge fan.”

Noting Lil Nas X’s proclivity for teasing snippets of his tracks, one fan joked: “Bro after all the snippets we’ve heard, it’s safe to confirm every song, and I truly do mean EVERY song, is a banger.”

First he won Halloween – now Lil Nas X is coming for Christmas.

The country rapper was recently declared the undisputed winner of Halloween 2020, revealing a flawless costume dedicated to his idol, Nicki Minaj.

The prolific tweeter alluded to his since-deleted secret Nicki Minaj stan account as he unveiled the outfit, having explained that he hid his love for the artist previously “[because] i didn’t want people to know i was gay”.

His choice of Halloween costume drew some naked homophobia from 50 Cent, an actual grown-up human who is still not over taking potshots at queer people for daring to exist.

After 50 Cent mocked his outfit, Lil Nas X tweeted: “Bro I don’t bother a soul in this industry. All I do is tweet and make bangers. Leave me alone damn.”
