Donald Trump Jr resorts to outright transphobia in pathetic attempt to rescue his father’s sinking campaign

Donald Trump Jr has once again resorted to shocking transphobia in a pathetic bid to rescue his father’s ailing presidential campaign.

Trump Jr, who has a long history of making offensive comments about trans people, used an appearance at a Trump rally on Saturday night (October 31) to mock trans and non-binary identities.

Speaking in Detroit, Michigan, the president’s eldest son desperately tried to help his father secure support by claiming that Democrats care more about LGBT+ groups than blue-collar workers.

“They’re more concerned about the 9,276 genders,” Trump Jr said, according to the Detroit News.

“I can’t list them all. I don’t have enough time and they don’t even know which ones they are. There’s a few more since I started speaking a few minutes ago.”

Speaking to an audience of 800 people, where just a quarter of attendees wore masks, Trump Jr went on to criticise Democratic governors for their response to the COVID-19 pandemic, saying they were damaging the economy, all the while conveniently ignoring the 231,000 people who have died in the United States from the virus.

Donald Trump Jr has made offensive remarks about trans athletes in the past.

This is not Donald Trump Jr’s first foray into transphobia. In 2019, he felt the need to wade into the increasingly toxic “debate” around trans athletes in a book called Triggered: How the Left Thrives on hate and Wants to Silence Us.

The book, billed as one “that the leftist elites don’t want you to read”, is essentially a 304-page rant in which “no topic is spared from political correctness.”

In October 2019, Trump Jr said allowing trans athletes to compete in sports would “destroy women’s sports and everything so many amazing female athletes have worked their entire lives to achieve”.

He later said: “Identify how you want, I think it’s wonderful. I don’t care.

“When you start saying: ‘OK, I’m a man. I’ve become a woman. I’m now winning national championships, setting weightlifting world records,’ you know, displacing women who’ve worked their entire lives to get to a point in their careers, I think that’s wrong.”

Transgender cyclist Rachel McKinnon revealed in December that she faced death threats and disgusting abuse online after being targeted by Trump Jr.

He also trolled a queer news outlet with a “joke” about HIV.
