A seven-year-old schoolboy dressed in a Nicola Sturgeon costume for Halloween, and we have every winner of Snatch Game on line three.

Alyson Welsh uploaded a video on Twitter of her son as a drag version of the Scottish first minister, saying that he wanted to be “Nicola for Halloween”.

“Our seven-year-old son asked to be Nicola for Halloween,” Welsh, from Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, said.

“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery after all.”

Wearing his brilliant Nicola Sturgeon costume – a maroon dress, short wig and a red poppy pin – Jacob Ferguson says in the clip: “You were telt! Stay in the hoose, nae parties, save lives!”

He then paid homage to Jane Godley’s comedic voice-overs of the Scottish National Party leader by adding: “My feet are killing me. Where’s my clicky pen? Frank get the door, I want a haggis supper and make sure it’s deep-fried.”

Nicola Sturgeon Halloween costume wins approval from the real thing.

Because we the public are just so used to a steady drumbeat of existential dread and dooming news, Twitter users were majorly impressed with Ferguson’s Nicola Sturgeon Halloween costume, with nearly 400,000 people viewing it in seven hours.

Even Sturgeon herself saw. Taking to Twitter, she wrote: “Thank you, Alyson Welsh – this has made me smile and given me a much-needed laugh this morning.

“What a wee star – I think we might draft him in for the daily briefings!”

Godley also praised the youngster, saying: “He’s great.”

She implored Welsh to block any of the homophobic “anonymous football accounts and flag bangers and trolls”.

Ferguson’s look also was a hit with his school, the UK Theatre School, which tweeted: “Fab!

Jacob’s such a talent. He’s stood out as exceptional so many times.

“We love his passion and enthusiasm. His impersonation of the first minister has brought big smiles to so many faces, and at this time, that’s a real bonus.”
