Fox host Tomi Lahren thinks Joe Biden ‘might as well carry a purse’ with his mask because wanting to live is gay, apparently

Fox News host Tomi Lahren suggested Joe Biden “might as well carry a purse” for wearing a face covering during a global pandemic. Really.

The Trump fanatic, a host for Fox News spin-off channel Fox Nation, regular took aim at Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden for wearing a mask on the campaign trail Monday (October 5), as advised by the World Health Organisation and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Lobbing a crude jibe at Biden, Lahren tweeted: “Might as well carry a purse with that mask, Joe.”

It’s fair to say that purse-carriers everywhere were not particularly impressed with the playground-level humour and entrenched toxic views of masculinity on offer.

As one Twitter user quipped: “Fellas is it gay to want to live?”

Another response joked: “Only gays will survive the pandemic this is the future Republicans want.”

A few people took the opportunity to show off their mask/purse combos, with one Twitter user responding: “And what about it??”

Meanwhile, others made excellent points about the levels of internalised homophobia and misogyny packed into the infantile joke.

As one person put it: “Seeing internalised misogyny like this makes me sad. There’s no shame in wearing a mask, or, for that matter, carrying a purse regardless of your gender.”

Another observed: “Is this supposed to be a put down? I think he could pull off a purse.

“Is being considerate and listening to science feminine? Are women weak because they carry a purse? Purses seem pretty f**king cool. I mean my mom always had gum and all sorts of useful s**t in there.”

Tomi Lahren frequently puts her ignorance on display.

We can only surmise that Tomi Lahren gets some sort of kick out of being publicly wrong on the internet, because it’s not even the most ignorant thing she’s said during lockdown so far.

Lahren previously demonstrated her spectacular lack of awareness back in June, while trying to agitate against measures to control the spread of coronavirus.

She tweeted: “To the pro-eternal shutdown cheerleaders, when your favourite government pals start canceling pride parades, we better not hear a peep out of you!!!”

As hundreds of Twitter users flocked to point out, every single major Pride parade across the US had already been cancelled by the organisers themselves, nearly all of whom accepted the clear public health need to avoid mass gatherings and managed to get on with their lives without throwing a tantrum on Twitter.
