New The Crown trailer gives first look at Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher and it’s safe to say the queers are torn
A new teaser trailer for the fourth season of The Crown has given fans their first glimpse of Gillian Anderson playing Margaret Thatcher, and queer Twitter is torn.
The bisexual Sex Education star is confusing queers everywhere, as they realise that they may start developing a crush on the horrifically anti-LGBT+ former prime minister.

Love Gillian Anderson, hate Margaret Thatcher. The gay dilemma. pic.twitter.com/T0GCAj758g

Some branded Anderson’s casting as “the gay dilemma”, while others were convinced that the conflict of interest might “cause the universe to implode”.
the sheer power of how gay I am for Gillian Anderson vs. my pure, profound loathing of Thatcher might actually cause the universe to implode

One person insisted: “If I see any of you thirsting after Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher (me included) I will personally and physically remove you from the LGBT community.”

As one Twitter user put it: “That’s it, 2020 has gone too far now, trying to make us thirst over Thatcher of all demons by casting Gillian Anderson smh.
“You have a lot to answer for right now, The Crown.”

The teaser trailer for The Crown, which also gave a first look at Emma Corrin playing Princess Diana, confirmed the fourth season’s release date as November 15, 2020.
Under Thatcher’s leadership, the Tories passed Section 28 in 1988 — banning the so-called promotion of homosexuality in schools.
Thatcher expressed her venomous anti-gay views in her infamous speech at the 1987 Conservative Party conference, which was met with rapturous applause.
“Children who need to be taught to respect traditional moral values are being taught that they have an inalienable right to be gay,” she said. “All of those children are being cheated of a sound start in life. Yes, cheated.”
The former prime minister was also criticised, even by her own former ministers, for her handling of the AIDS crisis.
In 2015, documents revealed that Margaret Thatcher personally tried to block all mention of anal sex in public guidance during the AIDS crisis, claiming it could harm “public morals.”
Former Health Minister Lord Fowler has also claimed that Thatcher warned him against becoming the “minister for AIDS” due to his work on the issue.
