Orville Peck drops new video with Shania Twain, Jaida Essence Hall and John Waters and it’s the stuff of gay cowboy dreams

Orville Peck and Shania Twain collide in the aptly-titled “Legends Never Die”, taken from the dashing gay cowboy’s new EP, Show Pony.
Peck dons his signature (but non CDC-approved) fringed mask and leather chaps to duet with Twain in the socially-distanced video for the track.
Crooning with Peck at a drive-in cinema, the country icon serves full “That Don’t Impress Me Much” realness in full leopard print regalia and a rhinestone stetson.
The video also features cameos from Drag Race season 12 winner Jaida Essence Hall and Chicago queen Miss Toto Clormont – serving biceps – and the voice camp icon John Waters as a radio announcer, introducing the track.
Peck said that working with Twain – who was forced to apologise in 2018 for suggesting she would have voted for Trump if she was American – “was a dream come true”.
“Her music made me feel empowered as a kid and was a huge influence on me.”
As the highly-anticipated clip did the rounds online, the general consensus from fans was simple: “Just legendary kings and queen s**t.”

Orville Peck and Shania Twain bring the bops.
“Legends Never Die” is taken from Peck’s new EP Show Pony, also released Friday (August 14), and is easily his poppiest track to date. Or, as Peck himself put it: “It’s a bop.”
Peck described the EP as “the middle sister between what Pony [his debut] was and what the next album will be”.
“It’s gonna make you laugh, it’s gonna make you cry and hopefully it’s gonna fill you with some of the Pride I found in writing it, he told Country Queer.
The release comes hot on the heels of Peck’s haunting cover of seminal gay anthem “Smalltown Boy” by Bronski Beat.
The enigmatic masked singer will collaborate with super-producer Diplo on his next full-length effort, the pair having struck up a close friendship in recent months.
Peck and Diplo arrived arm in arm at the 2020 Grammys, with Diplo admitting their friendship began “in the DMs”.
“We love each other,” Diplo said. “We do,” Peck added.
