Donald Trump Jr celebrated his return to Twitter by making a frankly weird and snide joke about a Barbie doll.
The son of US president Donald Trump had his Twitter account limited on Tuesday (July 28) after he shared a viral video containing false claims about the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for the coronavirus.
After 12 hours of blissful silence, the 42-year-old made his grand return to the platform with a jab at a new line of politically-minded “Barbie Campaign Team” dolls.
“‘Voter’ Barbie must be a Democrat because she’s already wearing an ‘I Voted’ sticker and yet she’s got another ballot in her hand,” he tweeted Wednesday (July 29), alluding to his father’s groundless claims about widespread voting fraud.

But Barbie was not amused by this. Toymaker Mattel skewered Trump Jr’s tweet in a statement to the Los Angeles Times, proving that a literal piece of plastic has more decorum and grace than the child of a sitting president.
“Barbie is not, and has never been, affiliated with a political party,” a Mattel representative said Thursday (July 30).
“Barbie has always encouraged girls to stand up for what they believe in and shows them they can be anything.
“This doll set highlights a range of leadership roles to pique their interest in shaping the future and raise their voices — from the podium to the polls.
“This set also provides a tool to allow families to have conversations around important events and cultural moments through play.”
With November 3 drawing ever closer, a desperate Donald Trump has suggested the presidential election could be postponed, citing unproven and unfounded claims of mail-in fraud.
“With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history,” he tweeted Thursday (July 30).
“It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote?”
Numerous fact-checkers have dispelled Trump’s baseless claims, and have pointed out that he does not hold the power to delay the vote.
Moreover, Republican Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell and House minority leader Kevin McCarthy have both slapped down the idea of a delayed vote.
