Elton John has reflected on his 30 years of sobriety in a moving Instagram post.

The legendary pop star famously battled drug and alcohol addiction, but has now been sober for three decades.

He celebrated the milestone in a powerful Instagram post Wednesday (July 29) where he thanked family and friends for their support.

“Reflecting on the most magical day having celebrated my 30th sobriety birthday,” Elton wrote.

“So many lovely cards, flowers and chips from my sons, David, friends in the program, staff at the office and in our homes.

Elton John said he would be dead if he hadn’t reached out for help 30 years ago.

He continued: “I’m truly a blessed man. If I hadn’t finally taken the big step of asking for help 30 years ago, I’d be dead.

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the people who have inspired and supported me along the way.”

He shared a picture of congratulatory cards he received to mark the occasion, as well as a photo of a 30 themed cake.

He also shared a picture of a 12 step program coin marking his incredible recovery.

The star was met with a wave of love and support from fans.

“We love you. We are so grateful you made the choice you did,” one wrote.

“An inspiration to all, thank you!” another added.

The legendary pop star opened up about his struggle with addiction in his memoir.

Elton John opened up about his battle with addiction in his tell-all memoir Me, which was released last year.

Rocketman, the biopic about his life, also charted his journey through addiction, rehab and recovery at the height of his career.

The star is currently being sued by his ex-wife for £3 million after he wrote about their failed relationship in his autobiography.

Renate Blauel claimed that he broke the terms of their divorce by writing about their relationship in his book.

According to The Independent, documents revealed that Elton agreed to remove passages of the book mentioning his ex-wife before its publication.

But she has now claimed that the sections mentioning her that were left in, while entirely positive, triggered some long-standing mental health problems.
