Ah, remember Andy King and the Fyre Festival? That ultraluxurious tropical musical getaway that, plot twist, was absolutely none of those words in the end.

Yes, it was a simpler time, in 2017, when the news that one of the event’s embattled organisers, Andy King, became known in the history books for being willing to “suck the d**k” of a customs official in order to secure the release of a crucial Evian water shipment to rescue the failing festival.

While the proposed blowjob was never required, King’s level of commitment to the doomed debacle has seen him star in a jaw-dropping ad for Evian water as well as be the subject of a reality television show.

Now, three years since the shambolic festival, and King, 58, revealed to the world Thursday (16 July) his new boyfriend – 26-year-old Scot Craig McBlain – in an adorable Instagram post.

Fyre Festival head: ‘It only took 58 years to find true love.’

Sharing a snap of the happy pair barefoot on a beach and a photograph of King’s house with both a US and Scotland flag flying high. King captioned the post: “It only took 58 years to find true love.”

The event planner peppered the post with the hashtags: “#neverstoplooking #scotland #usa #spreadlove.”

McBlain, from Ayr, Scotland, appears to have bumped into King at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, US, of April last year.

“Unexpected couple of days in Miami and at Ultra Festival,” he wrote in an Instagram post commemorating meeting his then boyfriend-to-be.

“Plus met the famous Andy King from the Fyre documentary.”

Andy King: ‘I was fully prepared to suck his d**k.’

The 2017 Fyre Festival controversy saw well-heeled festival-goers cheated of hundreds and even thousands of dollars, and local islanders not paid for services after brash entrepreneur Billy McFarland’s music festival imploded.

It was a wreckage so spectacular, a collapse so filled with lawsuits and official inquiries, that is has gone onto gain an infamous reputation.

Amplified by the likes of Kylie Jenner, the festival’s aborted opening saw panicked participants scrounging the dark beaches of Great Exuma, with beds soggy, tents unfinished and bars understocked.

And in the infamous clip from Fyre, the Netflix documentary on the wreckage of a festival, King recalled: “[Fyre CEO] Billy [McFarland] called and said, ‘Andy, we need to take one big thing for the team.’

“He said: ‘You’re our wonderful gay leader and we need you to go down [to the customs officer’s home]… will you suck d**k to fix this water problem?’”

King added: “I literally drove home, took a shower, I drank some mouthwash.

“I got into my car, to drive across the island to take one for the team. And I got to his office, fully prepared to suck his d**k.”

However, luckily for King, there was no fellatio required.

The event producer continued: “He couldn’t have been nicer, and said: ‘Andy, listen, I will release all the water, but I want to be one of the first people paid this import fee for what you’re doing.'”
