Jaden Smith condemns YouTuber Shane Dawson for sexualising his then 11-year-old sister Willow in disturbing video

Shane Dawson weathered intense criticism last Saturday (June 27) after Jaden Smith condemned the YouTuber over a crude video involving Jaden’s then 11-year-old sister, Willow.
In the resurfaced video which ricocheted across Twitter, it appeared to show Dawson, known for his provocative and at time conspiratorial vlogs, pretending to masturbate in front of a Disney poster of the bisexual musician, aged just 11 at the time.

The video inflamed the already tinderbox topic of Dawson, who only hours before had uploaded a 20-minute-long video apologising for this lengthy rap sheet of wearing Blackface, using racial slurs, mocking disabled people, joking about pedophilia and speaking hypothetically about murdering a woman.

Jaden, 21, lampooned the influencer, tweeting that he is “disgusted” by Dawson. “You sexualizing an 11-year-old girl who happens to be my sister… is the furthest thing from funny and not OK in the slightest bit,” he wrote in a tweet tallying more than 1.1 million likes.

The sibling’s mother, 48-year-old actor Jada Pinkett-Smith, also responded to the video. “To Shane Dawson,” she wrote, “I’m done with the excuses.”

Jaden later added, “This man was also doing blackface on the regular” and urged followers to “support creators who support us and our morals”.

“I should lose everything,” declared Dawson in a video he uploaded Friday to his channel. “I have put so much hate on the Internet,” he continued, in an attempt tamper earlier brewing controversies, stoked by the Black Lives Matter movement which has invigorated a sweeping reckoning of various figures histories.
“Blackface was something that I did a lot,” he said, “there’s no excuse for it, there’s literally no excuse.
“I made a video six years ago talking about it and I gave excuses, I knew it was wrong, I knew I never wanted to do it again, but I didn’t do the work.
“I didn’t actually look into the history of it and why it’s so wrong, and why people were so upset.
“Because my ‘excuse’ was ‘I was just being funny, I love Black people, I’m not a racist. I was trying to be funny.
“All of that is stupid and wrong. And I put that onto the internet as an adult, and that is insane. I’m so sorry.”
Dawson, 31, as not yet responded to the Jaden’s condemnation of the video.
