Evan Peters makes grovelling apology after retweeting video calling Black Lives Matters protestors ‘piece of s**t looters’

Evan Peters tepidly sought to squash criticism he faced after retweeting video footage showing someone laughing as police chased and tackled “piece of s**t looters”.
The American Horror Story star set the bar very, very low when it comes to white allyship after he retweeted the footage only hours after doing his part and spending what can only be assumed five minutes googling “black square” and taking part in #BlackOutTuesday on Instagram by not even using the hashtag.
Peters, 33, then issued an apology on Twitter on Tuesday, June 2, saying that he “unknowingly” shared the video to his 734,000 followers.
Many have compared Peters’ bungled attempt as showing solidarity to the Black Lives Matter movement to his former flame Halsey, a biracial bisexual singer who has emerged as a central figure on the frontline of the Los Angeles demonstrations.
Evan Peters shared clip of ‘looters’ sprinting from cops as viewers cackle off-camera.
The video was of a KTLA broadcast showing a man sprinting down a street in Riverside, California, as an officer trails them. Two people off-camera cheer “Get him!” and cackle as they are intercepted to the ground and collides into a vehicle.
“I can watch these piece of s**t looters get tackled all day!” tweeted Karim Vasquez, a Long Beach local.

After Peters retweeted and, shortly after, deleted it, screenshots quickly scattered across Twitter, ratcheting up tension as countless users accused the X-Men actor of being “racist”.

“I don’t condone the guy watching the news at all in the video which I have deleted. I unknowingly retweeted it,” Peters tweeted in the throes of backlash.
I don’t condone the guy watching the news at all in the video which I have deleted. I unknowingly retweeted it. I’m deeply upset it got on my newsfeed. I sincerely apologize if anyone was offended. I support black lives matter wholeheartedly.

Vasquez later commented on his video being shared Peters and amplified to thousands. “Seems pretty obvious but for the people that like to twist things,” he said, “I was out there protesting in Longbeach Sunday.
Seems pretty obvious but for the people that like to twist things: I was out there protesting in Longbeach Sunday. I am pro BLM! The looters then came out and destroyed my city. Looters are bad protesters are good. I’m sure @Evan_Peters was supporting the taking down of looters. https://t.co/T3dNPuUyeU
