Ryan Murphy wants to remake Glee with Lea Michele and Ben Platt because apparently he doesn’t have enough TV to be making

Ryan Murphy wants to remake Glee with Lea Michele and Ben Platt

If we didn’t have enough things to contend with right now, Ryan Murphy just suggested he wants to remake Glee starring Lea Michele and Ben Platt.

Murphy, the 54-year-old who essentially created the bulk of anything remotely LGBT+ on television right now, mused about what a rebooted version of the 2009 show would look like if it were remade today.

It comes less than a week after the internet remembered that a Glee mash of Scissor Sister’s “Let’s Have A Kiki” and “It’s Turkey-Lurky Time” from the 1968 musical Promises, Promises, exists and we must all find a way to live with it for all of eternity.

Imagine it's 2009, and I lived in a world where I knew Lea Michele, Ben Platt and Beanie Feldstein (Ben and Beanie, I believe, were in high school then…and I think they dressed up as Glee characters once for Halloween?) If I had access to that talent, here's the new pilot: Lea and Ben are frenemies who fight for the heart and soul of Glee Club. Ben is also on the football team, and pretty much sleeps with the entire school and is the heartthrob of McKinley. Beanie is their mutual best friend, and torn. Suddenly, Beanie joins forces with Sue Sylvester, joins Glee Club and becomes the main soloist and the ruthless star of the club. Lea and Ben have to then join forces to dethrone her. I WANT TO SHOOT THIS DO OVER PILOT. Maybe I will?

Ryan Murphy imagines what Glee would look like today if he remade it today.

Murphy co-created the Fox musical series with Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, set in a high-school in Ohio where a strange majority of students are extremely talented singers and dancers.

“Imagine it’s 2009, and I lived in a world where I knew Lea Michele, Ben Platt and Beanie Feldstein,” Murphy mused on Instagram Friday morning (May 22), sharing season one promotional artwork of Glee.

“Ben and Beanie, I believe, were in high school then… and I think they dressed up as Glee characters once for Halloween?

“If I had access to that talent, here’s the new pilot: Lea and Ben are frenemies who fight for the heart and soul of the Glee Club.

“Ben is also on the football team, and pretty much sleeps with the entire school and is the heartthrob of McKinley. Beanie is their mutual best friend, and torn.

“Suddenly, Beanie joins forces with Sue Sylvester, joins Glee Club and becomes the main soloist and the ruthless star of the club.

“Lea and Ben have to then join forces to dethrone her.

“I WANT TO SHOOT THIS DO OVER PILOT,” Murphy added, “maybe I will?”

Although, fans reactions online were a little mixed, to say the least.
